Want a change to your Lock Screen?
Some people are perfectly happy with the default lock screen on their Android phone but others always crave for customization and features that enhance how they use their phone. The following ten apps are some of the higher rated apps on Google Play for changing the appearance and functionality of the default lock screen. The beauty of the various themes is reason enough to choose one of these for your phone. Flexibility is the other advantage. The apps are listed in order of their star rating but keep in mind that since there are many different types of Android phones not all apps will work the same on all phones so you may find one that is rated lower actually works best on your phone. Since most of them are free there is no harm with checking out the ones that interest you the most then uninstalling if they end up not working the way you want them to.

7. Sparky Lock Screen Lite

Developer: Email at email@example.com
This app is different than other screen locks in that users can protect their privacy because it gives the appearance that it can only be unlocked with the user’s fingerprint. While it doesn’t actually work that way it will dissuade anyone that perceives that it does and the lock screen is very convincing. Over 17,000 users have given this an average 3.9 star rating with some users finding it difficult to time the unlock process and getting frustrated at the access denied message as a result. It is not rocket science though – simply place a finger on the scanner and hold it until the icon blinks 4 times then release.
10. Picture Password Lockscreen by TwinBlade
Developer: email at firstname.lastname@example.org or can be located on Google+ at https://plus.google.com/communities/110533409653685740894
There are totally conflicting reviews on this one with some people finding each update an improvement and others having issues when updated. Perhaps the device being used has something to do with that. This has led to under 1,000 users giving it an overall 3.7 star rating but still an app that since free is worth checking out to see how it works on your Android device. The reason is because it really is a unique lock screen. With this app you unlock your phone by drawing gestures on your chosen images making it unique and more secure than other unlock methods. There is also a plus version that unlocks some other interesting features such as music controls, system wallpaper cropper, time display and a greater allowed number and combination of gestures.
Although this list includes ten very good options if for some reason none of these work for you there is always the option to search Google Play for others. Besides having the features you want, the things to look for are a high star rating, at least more than a handful of users and a way to contact the developer should you have a problem with the app. It is also beneficial to see that they are conducting improvements along the way since in most cases this means the addition of new themes.
