It was developed by Peter Adams and has been deployed by thousands of web sites and developers. The software is free, but they do encourage donations from their users to help fund new development. Some honorable mentions for web analytics are Netbiscuits, Woopra, FoxMetrics, TrakkBoard and NextStat. Web analytics programs and software are designed for sites that receive at least 500,000 page views each month. If your site is smaller, you may just need a traffic statistic service. Since many of those listed offer a free trial or free version, that is a good place to start to see how it works for you. Analyse whether you can accomplish your goals with that particular service. If it is just data and you don’t use it, it is worthless and you are throwing away money as well as losing out on opportunities to use that information to better your business.
